PURPOSE:To obtain a steel for age hardening die excellent in mirror-finish characteristics, wear resistance, and toughness, by specifying a composition consisting of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, Al, V, and Fe. CONSTITUTION:The steel for age hardening die has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.10-0.20% C, 0.2-0.5% Si, 1.0-1.5% Mn, 2.30-2.70% Ni, 0.7-1.2% Cr, 0.45-0.90% Mo, 0.6-1.2% Al, 0.10-0.30% V, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and further containing, if necessary, one or more kinds among 0.05-0.30% S, 0.03-0.30% Pb, 0.03-0.40% Se, 0.01-0.30% Te, and 0.03-0.30% Bi and/or 0.05-0.25% P. This steel is hard and has excellent wear resistance, superior mirror-finish characteristics, and high toughness, and also it can provide a long-life die and further provide improved machinability.
