PURPOSE:To make direct thread machining possible by arranging a changeover clutch for changing normal and reverse rotation of an output shaft in a tool attaching device, and at the same time making it possible to attach a cap for attaching a drill and others on the output shaft. CONSTITUTION:When a drill is attached to a tool attaching section 31 of an output shaft 30 and a cap is screwed into a front cover 38, the output shaft 30 resisting a spring 44 reverses, a clutch key 42 engages with a clutch groove 41 of a bevel gear 40, and the output shaft 30 is rotated by a transmission shaft 20 in the normal direction. When the cap 52 is removed and a tap is attached to the tool attaching section 31 of the output shaft 30, the clutch key 42 engages with the clutch groove 41 of the bevel gear 40, the output shaft 30 is turned in the normal direction by the rotation of the transmission shaft 20, a work advances in the forward machining direction, and a thread is machined via a spring 50. When the work is retracted after machining, the output shaft 30 moves to the right, a clutch key 47 engages with a clutch groove 46 of a bevel gear 45, the output shaft turns in the reverse direction, the tool is automatically drawn out, and the output shaft 30 is returned to the original position by a spring 44. Thus, every step of work can be efficiently performed.
