PURPOSE:To simplify a spacing mechanism for transversely moving a carrier to which a printing head is attached in a serial printer, by enabling a slide screw to be axially moved by fitting the slide screw to a rotary shaft via a radial bearing abutting against the rotary shaft with a slant of a fixed angle to an axial direction. CONSTITUTION:Respectively three pieces of radial bearings on a left side and a right side of a slide screw attached to a carrier 4, i.e. six pieces of radial bearings in total are provided. These radial bearings 2 are positioned at intervals of about 120 degrees to one another to abut on a rotary shaft 3. Further, the radial bearing 2 is positioned by a slant of a comparatively small angle to an axial direction of the shaft 3. Therefore, the slide screw 1 is moved left or right by the rotation of the shaft 3, and the carrier 4 is also moved. A moving speed of the slide screw 1 can be regulated by changing a slant angle of the bearing 2. Then, rollers 4a, 4a provided to the carrier 4 touch a fixed shaft 7 provided to the rear of the carrier 4. Swing of the carrier 4 about the rotary shaft 3 is prevented thereby.
