PURPOSE:To smoothen the operation of conveyer by a method in which a number of screens are fixed axially to the tip of the cylindrical casing of conveyer and a blade with rake is rotatably provided between the screens. CONSTITUTION:An inlet device 6 for sludge raking, having screens 7, a blade 8, a water-stop plate 9, and a plow 10, is provided for the tip of a vertical screw conveyer 1, where the blade 8 is set around the screens 7 and fixed through the plate 9 to the tip side of a rotary cylinder 11. The blades 8 provided circumferentially for the cylindrical casing are set between the screens 7 in a rake 12, and the cylinder 11 is attached rotatably around and coaxially with the cylindrical casing 2 of the conveyer 1. The intaking effect of sludge by the conveyer 1 can thus be improved, and the treating cost of sludge can be drastically reduced.
