PURPOSE:To prevent damage affected on caterpillar and rails by a method in which rollers to be rolled along the gate catch side rails are attached to upper and lower ends of the caterpillar gate, and a spring is provided between the rollers and the gate. CONSTITUTION:A track-shaped guide frame 2 is provided for the peripheries of both sides of a gate 1, and a caterpillar 5 having many rollers 3 connected with links 4 is movably set on the periphery of the frame 2. Rollers 10 are attached through a spring 16 to brackets 7 fixed to upper and lower ends of the frame 2. The rollers 3 are designed to rotationally move along the gate catch side rail 8. The friction between the rails and the caterpillar can thus be prevented and damage can therefore be avoided when receiving no water pressure from the upstream side during the lowering of the caterpillar.
