PURPOSE:To facilitate automation of inspection of attachment condition of a hold pin of a drum brake device by detecting the position of a detection pin with a sensor and accurately performing the discrimination of the acceptability of the attachment condition. CONSTITUTION:In an inspection process of the attachment of a hold pin 1 for pivoting a brake shoe 9 to a back plate 10, a reference surface 76 at the bottom end of a cylindrical guide 71 comes into contact with the top surface of a hold cup 5. Under that condition, a detection pin 72 comes down. Since the position of the detection pin 72 varies in three stages according to three stages of the attachment conditions of the hold pin 1, namely a correctly attached, imperfectly attached and missing conditions, detection is performed by the on-off action of an access switch 81. In this way, acceptability of the attachment can be discriminated accurately to make automation easy.
