PURPOSE:To continue an operation of a numerical controller, even in case of failure of a main memory, by providing a spare memory. CONSTITUTION:By turning on a power source, a main memory 6 is checked by a memory check 8. In this case, when a failure element is detected, the memory check circuit 8 reports failure element information to a memory control circuit 5. When the report of a failure element is received, the memory control circuit 5 operates to select a spare memory 7 instead of the failure element. In such a way, when the failure element of the main memory 6 is brought to an access from a processor 1, the spare memory 7 is brought to an access instead thereof.
