PURPOSE:To prepare modified polyurethane which exhibits an excellent antithrombotic property without its mechanical strength being lowered, by causing polyurethane to undego a bond-forming reaction by the use of a specified silicone compd. as part of the hydroxyl group-contg. compd. CONSTITUTION:The title product is polyurethane obtd. from a compd. having at least 2 isocyanate groups and a compd. having at least 2 hydroxyl groups. In the reaction for forming a urethane bond, a silicone compd. of the formula as shown is used as part of the hydroxyl group-contg. compd. In the formula, R is H, Me, Et; Me is methyl; Et is ethyl; n is 0-4,000. The silicone-modified polyurethane obtd. as above can further be utilized as a modifier by, e.g., causing it to undergo copolyaddition with other polyurethane, which has not yet been modified with silicone, in the presence of a chain-lengthening agent or a cross-linking agent such as dissocyanate compd., dihydroxy compd. or diamines, using, e.g. an extruder.
