PURPOSE:To achieve improvement of recording speed and resolution and besides, to achieve low power consumption, by a method wherein a sheet of a shape memory alloy arranged near a heating resistor is provided, is processed so as to deform into a protruding form at not less than a transition temperature, and recording is carried out by heating an ink paper with a deformed protruding portion. CONSTITUTION:A recording head for a printer is formed by a thermal head 5 composed of a substrate 1, a resistor 2, an electrode 3, and insulating material 4, and a sheet 6 of a shape memory alloy arranged thereon. When current is applied to each resistor 2 from each electrode 3, the shape memory alloy sheet 6 is heated. When its transition temperature (about 100 deg.C) is reached, a protruding shape 12 is formed owing to protrusion of the alloy and comes in contact with an ink paper 6. Heat from the resistor 2 is transmitted to the ink paper 10 through the shape memory alloy sheet 6 at its contact part 13 with the ink paper 10, which is colored and recorded. The protruding part 12 of the shape memory alloy sheet 6 is pressed to be made flat with a hard roller 16 by information remaining in the recording head and can be returned to the initial state. |
