TERMINAL PART OF FRP OPTICAL UNIT

PURPOSE:To prevent the dislodgment of reinforcing tubes and a protective pipe by terminal resin molding and to prevent the damage of respective optical fiber strands by protecting the respective strands by the protective pipe against the damage thereof by the burrs at the front end of a fiber reinforced plastic FRP device and protecting the strands which are not protected by the FRP device by the respective tubes. CONSTITUTION:Plural lengths of the optical fiber strands 2 are disposed in an FRP optical unit 1 and the strands 2 are integrally molded of a silicone resin 2A to form an optical strand unit 3. An FRP coating 4 consisting of glass fiber reinforced plastic or the like is constituted on the outside circumference of this unit 3. The covering 4 is stripped for a prescribed length from this unit 1 at the terminal thereof, by which the unit 3 is led out. The protective pipe 5 is mounted across the inside and outside of the front end 4A of the covering 4 on the outside circumference of the unit 3 led out of the front end 4A and the reinforcing tubes 6 are put on the outside circumference of the strands 2 led out of the unit 3. The dislodgment of the pipe 5 and the tubes 6 is prevented by a terminal resin molding layer 7.
