PURPOSE:To insert a rigid insertion part without causing pain to a patient and without making the leading end part of the rigid insertion part longer, by constituting a balloon of the first part and the second part positioned in front of an ultrasonic head part and capable of expanding largely as compared with the first part by the ultrasonic wave transmitting medium supplied from a feed and discharge part through the first part. CONSTITUTION:A leading end balloon 31 is constituted of the first cylindrical part 35 covering an ultrasonic head part 22 and having a diameter slightly larger than that of said head part 22 and the second part 36 positioned in front of the ultrasonic head part 22 and capable of expanding largely as compared with the first part 35. The second part 36 is brought into contact with the inner wall 39 of the body cavity such as the esophagus in an expanded state and the first part 35 is not brought into contact with the inner wall of the body cavity. Therefore, the inner wall 39 of the body cavity on an ultrasonic diagnostic line can be held to a natural state without being stretched by the leading end balloon 31 and, since the first part 35 is separated from the inner wall 39 of the body cavity, reading and imaging are not obstructed. Since the leading end balloon 31 is mounted so as to cover the ultrasonic head part 22, the leading end part of a rigid insertion part is not made longer and a patient feels no pain at the time of insertion.
