PURPOSE:To prevent operator's finger or the like from being caught between trays and to prevent an accident of damage of an information recording medium which is in course of replacement, by preventing switching of a second tray from the close state to the open state at the time of detecting the open state of a first tray. CONSTITUTION:In a reproducing device provided with a first tray 4 on which an information recording medium 12 is placed and a second tray 3 which is provided on the first tray 4 and on which another information recording medium is placed, switching of the second tray 3 from the close state to the open state is prevented when an open/close state detecting means 13 which detects the open/close state of the first tray 4 detects the open state of the first tray 4. Consequently, the second tray 3 is not opened though an open/close button 5 of the second tray 3 is erroneously depressed during replacement of the infor mation recording medium 12 placed on the first tray 4. Thus, an accident that operator's finger or the like is caught between first and second trays 4 and 3 is prevented, and an accident that the information recording medium 12 is brought into contact with the second tray 3 and is damaged is prevented.
