PURPOSE:To enable stable and accurate containment of a plasma, by forming one turn of helical coil elements with a plurality of conductors to draw leading parts of the conductors in the circumferential direction of a discharge tube being dispersed along the outer diameter thereof. CONSTITUTION:One turn of helical coil elements 2a1, 2b1-2a5 and 2b5 is made up of a plurality of conductors 8. Lead wires 7 (7aa, 7ab, 7ba and 7bb) of the conductors 8 are drawn in the circumferential direction of a discharge tube being dispersed along the outer diameter thereof. Moreover, inter-pi transition parts 4 (4a and 4b) and inter-turn transition parts 5 (5aa, 5ab, 5ba and 5bb) of the helical coil elements 2a1, 2b1-2a5 and 2b5 are shifted in the circumferential direction of the discharge tube to array all of the inter-pi transition parts 4 (4a and 4b) and the inter-turn transition part 5 (5aa, 5ab, 5ba and 5bb) on the same spaces respectively while adjacent helical coil elements 2a1, 2b1-2a5 and 2b5 are arranged being wound in an inverse way to each other. This cancels current flowing except for in the circumferential direction of the discharge tube thereby enabling the lowering of irregular magnetic fields.
