摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To optimumly maintain brake force exerted to an engine by a power turbine by reversing the power turbine during exhaust brake operation, and by adjusting the nozzle throat area of the power turbine to an optimum degree. CONSTITUTION:Movable nozzle vanes 52 adapted to change the nozzle throat area 51 is rotatably mounted on the inner peripheral surface 50a of a housing 50 in a power turbine 12 through the intermediary of rotary shafts 53. Further, the rotary shafts 53 are linked to a control lever 57 for actuating a control ring 55 through lever members 54. Further, a step motor 60 which is a drive means 100 is coupled to the control lever 57 through a link 61. Further, a step motor 60 is controlled by a controller 62 which receives various data. With this arrangement, during exhaust brake operation the opening degree of the movable nozzle vanes 52 are optimumly adjusted in accordance with the gross weight of a vehicle and the operating condition thereof, and it is possible to obtain an optimum brake force.</p>
