PURPOSE:To provide a fluorescent character display tube having an easy-to-see character/numeral display part and a fine and sharp symbol display part, by forming display patterns on the grid of fluorescent character display tube. CONSTITUTION:Because a grid 2 is provided from a metal sheet processed with photo-etching, a character/numeral display part 2a and a symbol display part 2b are formed simultaneously, that allows creation of fine and sharp patterns. A character/numeral display part 3a of the anode 3 is formed by 5X7 dots, while a symbol display art 3b is provided with a display pattern with sharp angles on the grid side in order to obtain sharp display patterns. These display parts 3a, 3b are assembled so that light emission is made at the backs of the display parts 2a and 2b of the grid 2 and observation is available through a fluorescent substance layer. Therefore a fluorescent display tube is obtained which has display parts 2a, 3a formed by 5X7 dots and display parts 2b, 3b with fine and sharp symbol patterns.
