The invention relates to a monitoring device making it possible to hold a detection cell 6, especially a UV cell, near a flame 21 in a thermal enclosure 2, without the cell being affected by dirt or excessive heating. The cell 6 is housed in a ventilated pipe 23, 24, the end 13 of which is open in the direction of the flame and has a convergent internal profile. The cell is carried by a support rod 8 which can be moved from outside the enclosure. The ventilated pipe preferably includes an internal tube 23 into which ventilation air A is injected and an external concentric tube 25 fixed through a wall 4 of the enclosure. Part of the air returns at the rear D between the two tubes.
