Internal combustion engine with supercharging

In the currently known supercharged 4-stroke spark ignition and diesel engines a stroke corresponding to 360@ crankshaft angle of the working piston is used in order to expel the combustion waste gases and to draw in fresh gas. The invention relates to the pressure-energy utilisation of the supercharging in order to perform these said strokes in the area of the bottom dead centre in the form of a scavenging process, similar to the two-stroke process, and thereby to permit one power stroke (expansion) for each revolution of the crankshaft. The invention at the same time relates to supercharging devices, which deliver excess pressure even at starting speed. The object of the invention is to improve the power, efficiency, degree of uniformity and the exhaust emissions compared to known 4-stroke internal combustion engines for no major additional technical cost.
