Heating arrangement for the passenger compartment of motor vehicles

In the case of known heating arrangements for the passenger compartment of motor vehicles, a heat exchanger is provided through which cooling water of the internal combustion engine flows and which is arranged in a duct leading exterior air to the passenger compartment. In addition, an electrical auxiliary heater is also arranged in this airstream, which ensures heating of the air during the warming-up phase of the internal combustion engine. To achieve the most intensive possible heating of the air flowing to the passenger compartment with the auxiliary heater, the electrical auxiliary heater has a large surface-area heating conductor which is controllable to a low temperature of less than 150@C and is formed as a shallow, box-shaped structure and is adapted with its external dimensions to the air-outlet opening of the heat exchanger provided in an extension of the air duct reducing the flow rate of the airstream and is arranged directly downstream of the heat exchanger in the flow direction of the air and attached thereto, the heat exchanger forming the support for the electrical auxiliary heater.
