PURPOSE:To execute a vehicle inspection in a short time without necessitating a technical knowledge related to a vehicle, by a vehicle maintenance information storage device installed in the vehicle and a POS system (point-of-sales information managing system) installed in a service station, etc. CONSTITUTION:A vehicle maintenance information storage device 1 installed in a vehicle is constituted of a measuring means 5 for measuring a state of each part of the vehicle, such as a running distance and the quantity of oil, etc., a controller 6 for generating the vehicle maintenance information, based on the state of each part of the vehicle, and a storage device 8 for allowing a storage medium 8a to record the vehicle maintenance information. On the other hand, a POS system 2 is installed in a service station, etc., and by reading the vehicle maintenance information recorded in the storage medium 8a, by readers 23, 31, the vehicle maintenance information is easily obtained from the storage medium 8a without inspecting directly the vehicle. Accordingly, by only checking its information, the same effect as the case when the vehicle inspection is executed is obtained in a short time, and also without necessitating a technical knowledge related to the vehicle.
