PURPOSE:To hold a film in a condition where a sufficient optical path correcting function is provided and the film is prevented from being damaged, by dipping the film in a low-viscosity liquid having a refractive index which is close to that of the film. CONSTITUTION:A lipophilic liquid whose refractive index is close to that of color film and which is low in volatility and extremely low in viscosity at the normal temperature and pressure, such as trichloroethane 18, is used independently or in the form of a mixture in which the liquid is mixed with plural other liquids as the liquid to be used to cover the uneven surface part 17 of the color film 15. Since the liquid is so extremely low in viscosity that the liquid can be wiped off easily and so low in volatility that it does not volatilizes while it is used in addition to its lipophilic property, the liquid completely enters into minute depressed parts without space. Therefore, an easily handled film holding method which is provided with a sufficient optical path correcting function can be realized.
