PURPOSE:To realize high speed processing by applying conversion processing of a run length data in the unit of word width of a picture data output section in the lump. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with a data conversion section 12 dividing a run length coded data in the unit of word width of a picture data output memory 7 and converting the data into a required word number and a fraction in the word, and a selector section 18 applying the bit operation in the word in the unit of word width in the lump based on the word number and the fraction in the word converted by the data conversion section 12. The run length coded data is divided in the unit of word width of the output memory, the picture element less than the word length or the fraction in the word after the division is obtained, and they are converted in the lump in the unit of word width, then the processing speed is remarkably improved.
