PURPOSE:To permit air to be sent to every corners of a room and improve temperature distribution, by a method wherein the title device is provided with a suction port, the upper part of the same, and a blow-off port, at the corner of the lower part there of, so that the blow-off direction of a blow-off grille is changeable while the suction port and the blow-off port are provided with shutters capable of controlling the opening degrees of the same. CONSTITUTION:A shutter 8 is provided in a suction port 3 and another shutter 18 is provided in a blow-off port 11 while both shutters can be controlled by same actuators from the opened condition to the closed condition thereof. Cool air or warm air is controlled upon cooling or heating by a controller of an air-conditioning appara tus so that the cool or warm air flows through a duct 6b. When a room control unit is commanded to perform cooling or heating, the opening degree of the shutters is controlled by a room temperature and a set temperature and the cool air or the warm air is blown off into the room along the pivoted position of a blow-off grille 13. The blow-off grille 13 is controlled by the actuator so that it turns downwardly upon heating but the same grille 13 is controlled so that it turns to horizontal direction upon cooling. When the air conditioning in the room is not necessitated, the shutters 8, 18 are closed. According to this constitution, the distribution of temperature in the room may be improved.
