The invention relates to a composite panel (1) with rounded front edge (F) and to a process for the production thereof. To form the rounded front edge (1F), an L-shaped component (4) is placed against the front edge (2F) of the support panel (2) which forms the core of the composite panel (1), the first leg (4A) of which component is inserted into a recess (6) in the support panel (2) and the second leg (4B) of which component (4) is rounded outwards at the free end and extended slightly above the surface (20) of the support panel (2). To form a work surface (5), the surface (20) of the support panel (2) is glued to a cover panel (3) which is guided over the rounded end (4E) of the component (4) as far as the lower edge thereof and is additionally glued to the component (4). <IMAGE>
