PURPOSE:To improve an initial response characteristic and to enable stable exhibition of this response characteristic over a long period of time by adding beryllium sulfate into an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:The beryllium sulfate is added to the electrolyte 10 prepd. by adding a lithium salt and a small volume of water to a nonaq. solvent. Then, the beryllium sulfate is dissociated to Be<2+> ions and SO4<2-> ions by the water in the electrolyte 10 and the dissociated Be<2+> ions act to prevent the change in the liquid characteristic of the electrolyte 10 by elution of an alkaline impurity and the adverse influence on tungsten oxide 3 under the interaction with the OH<-> formed by the dissociation of the water. The initial response characteristic is thereby improved and the response characteristic is stably exhibited over a long period of time.
