An anti-theft device for motor vehicles is proposed to which a plurality of sensors, contacts or the like are connected for the purpose of carrying out anti-theft monitoring. If, for example, the doors of the vehicle are opened or the starter is actuated with the anti-theft device switched on, an alarm signal is triggered. So that, if appropriate, additional sensor functions can also be perceived by the anti-theft device, even though all the connection terminals (A1- A11) are already occupied, instead of the provided monitoring light on the monitoring connection (21) a desired sensor can subsequently be connected. The functioning of this sensor is then also monitored by the anti-theft device so that, if appropriate, an alarm can also be triggered by this sensor by means of the monitoring connection (21).
