PURPOSE:To provide a control system for energization time for obtaining correct printing regardless of input signal level being analog or digital, by constituting the subject printer with an energization time data selection part which selects and uses either of data rows according to the pattern of input. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate tone control circuit 3 transmits a gradation level which is read from an image memory 2 and an input/ gradation designation signal corresponding to an input selection signal from an energization time data selection part 7 to an energization time data memory 4a. In the energization time data memory 4a, energization time data corresponding to each gradation level is stored as a plurality of data rows for analog input and digital input. Energization time data corresponding to a designated gradation level for input is transmitted to the intermediate tone control circuit 3 by means of an input/gradation designation signal from the intermediate tone control circuit 3. Based on energization time data from the energization time data memory 4a, the intermediate tone control circuit 3 controls energization time data to be applied to a thermal head 5, thus performing printing of a desired density. |
