PURPOSE:To facilitate optical axis adjustment and assembly and to decrease the fluctuations in optical performance by providing split lens barrels which have lens holding grooves on the inside surfaces and are bisected at the plane parallel with an optical axis, through-holes which are bored through the split lens barrels, and covering members which couple the split lens barrels to each other and cover the through-holes. CONSTITUTION:The lens 11 is pushed and fixed into the groove part formed of a lens defining part 16 of the split lens barrel 10, a lens holding part 14 and an elastic piece 15. The other lenses 12, 13 are similarly pushed into the respective groove parts and finally, the other split lens barrel 10 is put on the split lens barrel 10 into which all the lenses are inserted to bring two pieces of the split lens barrels 10 and the lenses 10-13 into tight contact with each other. Pin-shaped jigs are inserted into the through-holes of the split lens barrels 10 and the respective lenses are adjusted by finely adjusting the same in prescribed amt. in the case of optical axis adjustment. A self-adhesive tape 26 is wound on the outside circumference of the split lens barrels 10 so as to cover the respective through-holes 23a, 23b, 24a, 24b, 25a, 25b to couple the barrels after the adjustment. The fine adjustment of the optical axes of the lenses is thereby enabled and the lens assembly which is easy to assemble and decreases the fluctuations in the optical performance is obtd.
