PURPOSE:To enhance moisture absorption force and also to impart deodorizing effect and to prevent liquefaction after moisture absorption by blending granular calcium silicate with a deliquescent dehumidifying agent incorporating calcium chloride as a main agent and preparing the dehumidifying agent. CONSTITUTION:A dehumidifying agent is prepared by blending 1-4pts.wt. preferably >=1.5pts.wt. granular calcium silicate with 1pts.wt. deliquescent dehumidifying agent incorporating calcium chloride as a main agent. As the above- mentioned calcium silicate, substance having a peak of tobermorite or xonotlite in X-ray diffraction is preferably used and waste of so-called light-weight cellular concrete corresponds thereto. Further the shape of calcium silicate preferably is granular and its particle diameter preferably is 1-5mm. The obtained dehumidifying agent is not made to a liquefied state after moisture absorption and is used by packing it between moisture permeable sheets and the applications can be extended.
