PURPOSE:To manufacture a high-efficiency permanent magnet improved in residual magnetic flux density, etc., by subjecting an alloy containing rare-earth elements, transition metals, and boron as principal components to melting, to casting, and then to hot working at a specific temp. CONSTITUTION:An alloy containing rare-earth elements (including Y), transition metals, and boron as principal components is melted and cast. After casting, hot working is applied at >=800 deg.C to refine crystals. Subsequently, if necessary, a heat treatment stage is added, or further, the alloy after the above heat treatment is crushed and the resulting powder is kneaded together with an organic binder, which is compacted so as to be formed into a resin-bonded-type magnet. In this way, the high-efficiency permanent magnet improved in coercive force and maximum energy product can be obtained.
