PURPOSE:To simply and efficiently reduce the concentration of hydrogen in a copper alloy molten metal in a short time, by dissolving a copper alloy raw material after producing an oxide on its surface by heat treatment, and raising an oxygen concentration in the copper alloy molten metal. CONSTITUTION:The copper alloy raw material is heated at 500-650 deg.C to produce the oxide on its surface. The preferable purity of copper in the above- mentioned copper alloy is >=80%. Moreover, the preferable ratio (Cu2O/Cu) of increased Cu2O weight to Cu weight in the copper alloy raw material is >=0.09. After that, the above-mentioned copper alloy raw material on which the oxide is formed is dissolved, hence the oxygen concentration in the copper alloy molten metal is raised. Thus, a dissolved hydrogen quantity in the above- mentioned molten metal is inexpensively and easily reduced in a short time.
