A temperature measuring instrument, comprising a light source (1) with a given spectral band width, a light detector (4), at least one glass fiber (3a, 3b, 3d) and a Fabry-Perot interference element 4, which has an inner medium 6 which has a large refractive index in relation to an outer medium 11 and a temperature-dependent transmission and reflection behavior. A semiconductor material is preferably used for the inner medium 6 and the outer medium may be polyimide 11 surrounded by a protective layer of black varnish 8. The Fabry-Perot interference element 4 may be mounted on an end face 5c of a glass fiber 3d or between two glass fibers (3a, 3b). A temperature is determined by measuring the intensity of the light reflected by or transmitted through the Fabry-Perot interference element (4), wherein the influence of a temperature-indexed refractive index of the inner medium (6) on the transmission behavior of the Fabry-Perot interference element is utilized. <IMAGE>
