By way of an attached device (8), it is possible to mount a carrying beam comprising an upper plate (3), a lower plate (4) and sidewalls (5, 6) on a drawing vehicle (1) so as to be pivotable about a shaft journal (7). Bars (43) arranged in a row are detachably fixed to the carrying beam. Rigidly fixed to the lower end of each bar (43) is in each case one holder (44). Each holder (44) carries four cutting plates (45), eachs of which has four teeth (48). The teeth (48) are held by means of two height-adjustable skids (20, 21) at a reference position to the surface to be roughened. Underneath each skid (20, 21) there are arranged sliding plates (26, 27) each having a knife edge (29), so that, if necessary, material removal also takes place underneath the skids (20, 21). With the above-described apparatus of the surface of the ice or hard-snow covering can be roughened as far as the curbstones or pavement, with the result that the safety in particular of pedestrians is increased. <IMAGE>
