A mixture forming device (1) for internal combustion engines with an external control device (2) which controls the mixture forming device electronically, and a data memory (control device data memory 3') which is directly assigned to the control device for the purpose of storing characteristic diagram data for controlling the mixture forming device as a function of its operating points exhibits variation such as specimen and batch variation due to manufacturing. These variations can be compensated according to the invention in that a data memory (mixture forming device data memory 3), which is assigned to the mixture forming device (1), is provided for storing deviations (deviation data) of the actual characteristic diagram data of the concrete mixture forming device from standard characteristic diagram data for the purpose of controlling the mixture forming device as a function of operating points. The deviation data are transferred to the control device by a dataline (4) which connects the control device (2) to the data memory (3) of the mixture forming device. An electronic data processing system (2') which is assigned to the control device (2) supplies the control device with characteristic diagram data which are corrected in accordance with the deviation data. The deviation data are determined by means of a flow bench for the purpose of activating the mixture forming device. <IMAGE>
