PURPOSE:To enable the start of treatment without accompanying clogging and disturbance in posture even by exchanging the waste straw treatment from a shredding stage to a binding stage, by placing a contact sensor for plant foot and a contact sensor for ear tip in specific state above a lid of a waste straw receiving port of a waste straw shredding apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A contact sensor 22a for plant foot and a contact sensor 22b for ear tip are placed in such a manner as to enable the detection of the plant foot position of a transferred waste straw in a waste straw transfer path 6. When both contact sensors 22a, 22b are sensed, the straw-aligning apparatus A is shifted and adjusted to the plant foot-side by a motor 19 and when neither of the sensors 22a, 22b is out of sense, the straw-aligning apparatus is shifted and adjusted to the ear tip-side by the motor 19. The positions of the contact sensors 22a, 22b and the straw-aligning apparatus A are controlled in such a manner as to enable the passage of the foot end of waste straw between the sensors 22a, 22b without contacting with the sensor 22a.
