Sorting device for piece goods, in particular sawn timbers, having a feeder which feeds the material to be sorted in a feed level from which sorting stores, which can be sealed with respect to the feed level by means of closing elements, extend downwards and can be closed as required at their lower end, with respect to a conveyor arranged below the sorting stores, by means of further closing elements. In order, in such a device, to make possible a careful treatment of the material to be sorted and a compact construction, it is provided that the sorting stores extend essentially in an arc shape.
