PURPOSE:To instantaneously and exactly measure the depth of water at the time of measuring the depth of water, irrespective of an oscillation of a hull caused by a wave, by synthesizing a plane coordinate position value of the hull, to a composite value of an altitude value of the hull and a water depth value. CONSTITUTION:First of all, a composite value Z of an altitude value Z1 of a hull 1 measured by using a laser level, consisting of a laser light emitting device 3 of a fixed point provided on land or the sea and a photodetecting plate 4 provided on the hull 1, and a water depth value Z2 detected by an echo sounder 5 of a digital type, etc. provided toward the bottom of water on the hull 1 is derived. Simultaneously, with respect to the composite value Z, a value of plane coordinate values XY of the hull 1 detected by using a radio wave position measuring instrument 7 consisting of two fixed points on land and one point on board is synthesized by using a central processing unit of a personal computer 8, etc., and a measured water depth value at the time of measuring each water depth of the hull 1 and a horizontal position of the hull 1 are displayed on an external output of a printer, a CRT, etc. In such a way, even if the hull is oscillated by a wave, etc., a plane position of the hull, and also, the water depth value whose tide level has been corrected can be derived exactly and instantaneously.
