PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet of inorganic fiber or powder bonded with a heat- resistant inorganic adhesive and having flexibility in normal state and high- temperature heat-resistance after treatment at high temperature, by combining the above adhesive with an alcohol having a boiling point higher than a specific level. CONSTITUTION:A liquid mixture of a heat-resistant inorganic adhesive and a monohydric or polyhydric alcohol having a boiling point of >=150 deg.C is applied to a surface of a sheet of inorganic fiber or powder during or after the sheet- making process by impregnation or surface coating to bond the inorganic fiber or powder. The alcohol is glycols such as 2-butoxyethanol, ethylene glycol or butylene glycol, glycerol, etc., or their mixture. Since the obtained inorganic sheet has excellent flexibility in normal state, it can be easily subjected to processing, winding, etc. A sheet having comparable tensile strength to that of a sheet produced by using a heat-resistant inorganic adhesive can be produced from the above sheet by heating at a high temperature, thereby burning the alcohols.
