METHOD OF OPERATING INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

For operating a four-stroke combustion engine with ignition microprocessor and antiknock control it is proposed to determine the relationship between cylinder ignition and crankshaft angle during the combustion engine starting process by employing the antiknock control in order to identify whether a combustion process has occurred in the cylinder. From this the microprocessor, at each second revolution of the crankshaft, calculates the next ignition pulse for the respective cylinder.
