PURPOSE:To detect abnormal deformation of the inner wall of a pipe, by feeding a pressure medium into the pipe at one end thereof to detect a pressure difference at the other end thereof. CONSTITUTION:An inflow port side jig 22 and an outflow port side jig 23 are mounted on a pipe at both terminals of an optical fiber compound aerial ground wire (OPGW) 10 to let a pressure medium comprising a gas or liquid flow in and an inlet side pressure gauge 20 and an outlet side pressure gauge 21 are arranged respectively. With such an arrangement, a measured value of a pressure loss is determined at a sound state of the OPGW 10 as given when a liquid flows at a fixed pressure from a pressure source. Then, a pressure loss at an abnormal state of the OPGW is determined, and thus, abnormal deformation of the inner wall of the pipe is detected by checking both the measured values for a pressure difference.
