PURPOSE:To prevent the damage or deterioration of a filter by providing plural guide plates on the upper course side of the catalyst filter of an exhaust gas cleaning device and making the flow rate of a gas larger toward the center of the filter. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust gas cleaning device in which a catalyst filter 5 is housed in a jacket 2 is connected to an exhaust pipe and a flow rate control member 6 having guide plates 8 is provided on the upper course side of the catalyst filter 5. At the time of regenerating the filter, the flow rate control member 6 is driven by means of an electromagnetic actuator 11 to make the flow rate distribution of a high temperature gas G larger toward the center part. Thereby, a super-high temperature zone generated in the center part of the filter can be cooled preventing the deterioration or damage of the filter.
