PURPOSE:To attain accurate white balance adjustment by providing an integration means applying integration to color temperature information for a prescribed period and a white balance adjusting means controlling a color balance of an output from an image pickup element so as to change the integration characteristic in integrating the color temperature information in matching with the storage time of an image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:Nine kinds of time constants deciding the integration characteristic of an integration circuit are selected by the combination of resistors 21, 22 and capacitors 25, 26. As a result, an input signal from a subtraction circuit 5 is integrated by a proper time constant and fed to a control voltage generating circuit 7 via a buffer circuit 29. That is, the integration output is fed to the control voltage generating circuit 7, the control voltage is led out and the white balance is adjusted by the voltage. Moreover, a reference voltage Vr from a reference voltage source 30 is set to a voltage being a half the maximum value of the output level of the subtraction circuit 5. Thus, even if the charging of the capacitors 23, 24 and the resistors 21, 22 in the integration circuit is insufficient, the error is decreased.
