PURPOSE:To make record management more efficient and, at the same time, to improve the speed of accessing operation, by recording and managing data at every file arranging table corresponding to plurally-divided recording areas and recording area divided by directory. CONSTITUTION:The recording area of a disk 11 is divided into plural recording areas A, B, and C by means of a host area address pointer, its own area address pointer, and area dividing data constituted of data block length and total data block numbers. A file arranging table and directory DiR are produced in correspondence to each divided recording area A, B, and C and the recording and management of data are performed at every divided recording area A, B, and C through an area selecting section 15. Therefore, various files of small-capacity programs, code data, large-capacity code data, and image data are efficiently recorded and managed.
