PURPOSE:To reduce a noise by setting up a muffling hole, which is interconnected to a noise suppressing chamber to be formed on the circumference of a casing, at the lower side than a disc wheel of the casing. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 18 to which a disc wheel 1 is tightly attached is pivotally supported on a support metal 17 on an inner wall of a casing 2 of an axial fan 6. On the circumference of the casing 2, there is provided with a nose suppressing chamber 3 between a casing outer wall and a shell plate 21. The noise suppressing chamber 3 and the inner side of each casing 2 are interconnected to each other via a muffling hole 4. A noise of wind whistling being produced when the disc wheel 1 rotates is absorbed into the noise suppressing chamber 3 by way of the muffling hole 4 of the casing 2, so that it is sharply reducible inside this noise suppressing chamber 3.
