<p>PURPOSE:To stabilize the electron emission property for a long time by forming a layer including Sc over the surface of a base body metal including at least Si where an electron emitting substance is formed. CONSTITUTION:Over the surface of a base body metal 1 where an electron emitting substance layer 5 is formed, a layer 4 including Sc is formed. As the base body metal 1, nickel is used as the main component and a metal including at least Si is used as a reducing agent. In the layer 4 including Sc, the Sc is present at the depth at least 5 mum level from the surface layer, and the including rate of the Sc is made 0.1-0 % to the base body metal 1. And as the electron emitting substance layer 5, an alkaline earth metal oxide including at least Ba is used. By such a composition, the collective formation of a reaction product which consists of a composite oxide owing to the oxidization or reduction reaction near the interface between the base body metal 1 and the electron emitting substance layer 5 can be prevented.</p> |
