PURPOSE:To make the tension of springs constant when stretching linear cathodes by stretching the linear cathodes to be an electron source on a separate jig in advance then moving and fixing the stretched linear cathodes on the electrode of a display device with holding tools. CONSTITUTION:Stretch support beds 3, 3' fitted with springs 4 and fixing tools are fixed to a separate jig in advance, the tension of individual springs 4 is made constant under this condition, and linear cathodes 2 are stretched on the springs 4 and the fixing tools 5. The stretched linear cathodes 2 are moved onto an electrode 13 from this jig with a support tool, the stretch support beds 3, 3' are fixed, then the support tool is removed, thus multiple linear cathodes 2 are stretched on the electrode 13. The tension of the springs 4 to stretch the linear cathodes 2 is thereby made constant easily, and the linear cathodes 2 can be inspected on the stretching jig.
