PURPOSE:To improve the volumetric efficiency of the storage battery in the caption by providing the battery with a bottom face having openings for connecting its plate lugs to its terminals and another opening leading to a safety valve so that a group of plates may be housed in a battery jar having a prescribed wall thickness and formed in one body with the bottom face. CONSTITUTION:The lead storage battery in the caption is provided with a bottom face 2 having openings 3 for connecting its positive plate lugs 13 to its positive terminals 7 and another opening 10 leading to a safety valve, and a group of plates 5 are housed in a battery jar 1 having 0.2-0.5mm thickness and formed in one body with the bottom face. An opened end 4 which is the other end of the battery jar 1 is provided with a recessed step 15 on its outside and this step 15 is tightly sealed from outside by means of a metallic lid 14. Since openings 3 and 10 are provided on the bottom face 2 of the jar in this way, pins for the purpose of molding this bottom face can be utilized for preventing any warp or swing of a core so that a thin-walled and deep battery jar can be formed. Thereby, a hermetically sealed lead storage battery of high volumetric efficiency, no projected terminal and a long service life can be obtained. |
