PURPOSE:To prevent dislocation of a supporting roll and a horizontal deflection of a work roll by detection vertical forces loading on a 1st supporting roll being in contact with the work roll and moving the 1st supporting roll in the vertical direction so that the forces do not exceed an allowable value. CONSTITUTION:A chock 12 of the 1st supporting roll 7 is supported by a lever 13 so as to be freely slidable in the before and behind direction. The lever 13 is freely turnable centered on the shaft of a 2nd supporting roll 9 and the other end of the lever 13 is provided with load cells 15, 16 detecting vertical forces loading on the roll 7. A chock 14 of the 2nd supporting roll 9 is fixed through wedges 17, 18 moving the chock 14 in the vertical direction. During rolling, vertical forces loading on the roll 7 are measured to detect the direction in which the roll 7 intendes to move up or down. Then, a force loading on the roll 7 is reduced by moving the roll 7 in the opposite direction to the above detected direction to prevent dislocation of the roll 7. |
