PURPOSE:To improve a working efficiency and product quality by providing an opposed running type forging press capable of moving reciprocatively in a line direction and by disposing a manipulator having a rotative tong head capable of moving in the line direction. CONSTITUTION:The opposed running type forging press 1 mounted on rails 5 extending in the line direction and capable of moving reciprocatively through wheels 4 is provided. Then, the manipulator 2 mounted on rails 13 and capable of moving in the line direction through wheels 12 is disposed. On the manipulator 2, the rotative tong head 16 is disposed. After setting a pipe blank material 24 on a spindle 23, dies 7, 8 are closed and detached by driving devices 9, 10, a press 1 is moved reciprocatively in the line direction to perform forging. Because the dies 7, 8 perform the running work for the blank material 24 in the elongating direction, so the numbers of pressing works are reduced and the bending and thickness deviation are prevented. Therefore, both working efficiency and product quality are improved.
