PURPOSE:To shorten the reproducing time of a still video system, by performing signal processing for reproduction in a state where the time base is compressed when sound signals recorded on a recording medium are reproduced by compressing the time base. CONSTITUTION:A reproducing device A and recording device B are respectively provided with input heads 32 and input terminals 10. In the case of the example shown in the figure, the device B is an ordinary sound record processing system. On the other hand, the device A inputs sound signals, whose time base is compressed, from the head 32 and outputs the signals to a terminal 38 through an FM demodulator circuit 36. Moreover, a change-over switch 30 is installed to the device B so that the output terminal 38 of the device A can be switched to the FM modulator 24 of the device B. With this constitution, the switch 30 is switched to (b) and the terminal 38 is connected with the FM modulator 24. Since the signal of the terminal 38 is compressed in time base when the terminal 38 is connected with the modulator 24, the signal is modulated by the FM modulator 24 and can be reproduced with the same time base. Therefore, the reproducing time of this still video system can be made shorter.
