PURPOSE:To reduce a torque ripple without decreasing an output rotational torque by setting suitably the ratios of the width of each tooth of a rotor and that of each tooth of a stator to the pitch thereof. CONSTITUTION:The distance between respective teeth of a rotor 10, that is, the pitch is regarded as P; the width of each tooth of said rotor 10, as W1; and that of each tooth of a stator 20, as W2. Sizes of the tooth width W1 of said rotor 10 and the tooth width W2 of said stator 20 are such that ratios (W1/P) and (W2/P) are almost 0.35 and 0.45 or almost 0.45 and 0.35, respectively. In order that the rotor 10 is smoothly rotated relative to the stator 20, it is sufficient to control the timing of power application to each pair of magnetic poles according to the corresponding positional relation between respective teeth of the rotor 10 and the stator 20.
